Should have done this yesterday but hey, better late than never!
Yesterday I ran my very first half marathon!
It was the Brass Monkey at York, North Yorkshire! I wasn't nervous, just looking forward to finishing! lol! I knew I wouldn't make a good time but what ever happened it was a personal best! The race went well, I had to stop quite a bit but I did chat to a nice lady on the way round (I have since found out her name is Avril) she was an inspiration! Thank you Avril for you kind words!
I finished in 2:42:35. That is now my marker to start on I guess! It is a flat course and really quite enjoyable! I hope to do the same one next year, if I can get in that is! lol! We'll see!
Hillary and Julie were brilliant company and we had a good giggle! Thank you both!
On the way home I thought I was going to get stuck in the back of Hilary's car, it's a bit tight and I'd seized up after the race! But I managed to prize my way out!
Today I went for a 3 mile gentle run, it was tough going as my legs are sore, I didn't rush and walked when I felt like it. Then went up town in the afternoon with my son. Legs are still sore and my toe nail is sore but I'm proud of myself!
Not sure now what my next race is going to be but I look forward to it!!
Well done, you should be chuffed, you never forget your 1st half
